SUNCINE kicks off a festival that inspires us to take care of Planet Earth

With 30 editions under its belt, SUNCINE is the oldest environmental film festival in the world. Internationally recognised (it received the Princes’ Award in 2000), it is the only festival with a competitive section that only accepts productions made within a year of the event, a distinguishing feature that places it at the forefront of festivals in this field.

Between 1 and 23 November, films and documentaries will be screened in various cinemas in Barcelona, Viladecans and Calafell. In addition, with the aim of reaching as wide an audience as possible, it will be available on digital platforms (the SUNCINE app, La Xarxa, 3Cat) and on the public television station Betevé. New this year, the festival will also have a free online space so all educational centres can follow screenings in classrooms.

The aim of the festival is to educate through entertainment and to raise awareness, using audiovisual media as an instrument and language. SUNCINE is a meeting point for the film industry and the general public, which checks Mother Earth’s vitals through the latest films on environmental issues. The programme presents feature-length documentaries and films but also short documentaries and animated films. There is material for all ages and topics, always with an environmental undertone.

We hope you like the material presented here. May it help us reflect and improve as a society.
