The purpose of the new Project on demand unit is the development of customized R+D+i projects involving one or two of their shareholders and external enterprises, which highlights the company´s willingness to collaborate with new private partners in innovation projects applied to plant biotechnology and agriculture.

Created as a result of strategic decisions, the Scientific & Business Intelligence unit is based on developing and managing a database of scientific and technical information from articles in international journals, patents, websites and scientific meetings in congresses. The analysis of this information is reserved to Ninsar´shareholders, through the intranet, and provides them with an updated overview of current developments and trends in plant biotechnology, mainly focused on the seed business.

The Trait Discovery & IP Management unit, which makes use of the internal reports of the company, is geared towards the development and management of multidisciplinary R+D+i projects aimed at the discovery of characters of agronomic interest. Financed with private funds, Ninsar Agrosciences projects rely on a network of contacts with top scientists from public and private centers of excellence across Europe, the U.S., China, Korea, India and, in general, any country where the company identifies opportunities for R&D.

Ninsar Agrosciences was established in 2008 as a limited company and is based at the Barcelona Science Park. The company is owned by three seed companies: Semillas Fitó (Spain), BHN Seeds (USA), and Gautier Semences (France). The company currently focuses its efforts on the marketing of characters of agronomic interest in tomato and other vegetable species, such as cucumber, melon, watermelon and zucchini.

Its projects focus on obtaining plants that are more resistant to pests and diseases, harvesting fruits of greater conservation and improved organoleptic (taste and odor) properties, flowering plants with modulated bloom, in adverse conditions, changes in the architecture and improved tolerance to abiotic stress such as drought and salinity.
