Josep Samitier will conduct a conference at the CosmoCaixa

Next Tuesday November 9, at 7 p.m., Josep Samitier, professor of Electronics at the UB and associate director of the Institute of Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) –based at the Barcelona Science Park- will conduct a conference titled "What did one atom tell another atom? Hi, nano", as part of the cycle "From residue to the first matter. The roots of the consumption products of tomorrow", which began on October 7 and will end next November 23.

Nanotechnology, biotechnology and information technologies, as new working tools of the 21st century, will be the main topic of Samitier’s conference, over the course of which he will reveal how atoms, molecules, proteins –key pieces of our body’s cells- are the basis of new technological developments in sustainable energies, information technologies, intelligent tissues or improved well-being and health.

The cycle of conferences “From residue to the first matter. The roots of the consumption products of tomorrow” has been organized by CosmoCaixa, in collaboration with the UNESCO Center of Catalonia with the objective of providing information on how current societies are presently being transformed and how they will be transformed in the future. Each conference enables us to analyse some of the key aspects of current production and consumption processes and their effects on social and natural systems.
