International researchers meet up at the 18th Conference of the European Macrophage and Dendritic Society

The 18th Conference of the European Macrophage and Dendritic Cell Society () will be held from 14-17 Octuber. This event has been organized in collaboration with the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB, Barcelona Science Park) through the "Macrophage Biology Group: regulation of gene expression", headed by Antonio Celada. Entitled "Signal transduction and gene regulation in macrophages and dendritic cells", the conference will include 34 speakers specialized in the molecular biology of the macrophage, most of whom will present their recent studies.

The conference will be held in the Auditorium at the Sant Joan de Deu Hospital and will bring together 135 participants. The speakers include the following researchers: Walter Reith, from the Dept. of Pathology and Immunology at the University of Geneva Medical School; Emil R. Unanue, from the Washington University School of Medicin; and Christopher K. Glass, from the Dept. of Medicine at the University of California. The promotes innovative basic and clinical research studies in the fields of macrophage biology and dendritic cells. Furthermore, it seeks to speed up the development and application of new treatments against infections, autoimmune diseases, inflammatory alterations, cancer and metabolic diseases. In addition, the EMDCS also provides a forum to facilitate the interdisciplinary exchange of knowledge in this field and also participates in initiatives aimed at improving the training of young researchers.
