Grup UB launches a Transfer Portal

Coinciding with the establishment of the Agency for Valorisation and Commercialisation of Research Results ((), the Universitat de Barcelona (UB, University of Barcelona) presents its knowledge and technology . This initiative seeks to disseminate and promote the activities performed by members of the Grup UB and other organisations associated with this group by means of agreements.

Managed by AVCRI, the web portal is a single point access that centralizes issues regarding the identification, valorisation, protection and commercialisation of industrial and intellectual property produced by researchers belonging to the Grup UB. This initiative seeks to promote new strategies for the coordination of transfer and the creation of added value through knowledge chains, in addition to strengthening relations with the business sector.

This web portal provides researchers, entrepreneurs and research managers of the Grup UB with information about the regulations, procedures, advantages and returns, for themselves and their institutions, of managing the results derived from research activities. Furthermore, the portal serves as a link with the business sector with the aim to enhance commercialisation and make the transfer of knowledge more efficient for the Grup UB.

Initiatives in the field of knowledge and technology transfer developed by the Grup UB will also be disseminated on the portal, together with the results obtained from transfer, particularly the process of valorisation and commercialisation, and also the measures taken to promote entrepreneurial culture.

Transfer is one of the current challenges for universities. In this regard, the UB has developed organizations that are involved in several stages of this process, such as the Innovation Centre of the Fundació Bosch i Gimpera, the Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB, Barcelona Science Park), the Patents Centre, the Scientific and Technical Services, and the AVCRI. In addition, transfer activities are performed by the Fundació Clínic, within the Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), the Fundació IDIBELL and other research institutions promoted by the Government of Catalonia and involving the UB.
