Gate2Brain, wins the 7th edition of the Barcelona Activa Pre-Acceleration programme

Gate2Brain, based in the Barcelona Science Park, has won the 7th edition of the Barcelona Activa Pre-Acceleration Program, an initiative to support entrepreneurial projects with a high technological impact.  With this recognition, the company -a spin-off from the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (IRB Barcelona), the University of Barcelona (UB) and the Sant Joan de Déu Research Institute (IRSJD)- Hospital Sant Joan de Déu (SJD) – will be awarded € 5,000 and an acceleration process in the MediaTIC Incubator.

Barcelona Activa has accompanied Gate2Brain together with 9 other companies in the 7th edition of its pre-acceleration program. On Demo day, that was held on July 7th, Gate2Brain along with the other selected companies presented its project to a panel of experts. Gate2Brain, led by IRB Barcelona alumni Meritxell Teixidó, was the winner.

Gate2Brain was founded in 2020 to exploit a technology developed at IRB Barcelona for the development of therapeutics that efficiently cross biological barriers such as the blood-brain barrier.  This research line, promoted by Teixidó, gave rise to the creation of a proprietary novel technology platform, based on three families of peptide shuttles, applicable to therapeutic areas in which biological barriers hinder the delivery and activity of drugs. G2B-002, the first therapeutic proof of concept of our technology platform, is aimed mainly at the treatment of rare pediatric solid tumors.
