DTI Foundation launches “Save 1 million lives” campaign

The DTI Foundation – Donation & Transplantation Institute,  based at the Parc Científic de Barcelona, has launched – through the GlobalGiving platform– the "Save 1 million lives" solidarity campaign, to raise funds for the training and training of professionals from developing countries. Development in the field of organ donation and transplantation.

Currently, less than 10% of the necessary transplants in the world are performed. Part of the problem is the health professionals do not have specific training in donation and transplantation organs. To further complicate the problem, even when an organ match is found, there is a huge and growing worldwide shortage of health care professionals trained in both organ donation and transplantation.

For this reason, the DTI Foundation wants to train professionals from other countries to give to the locals more opportunities to survive. Through “Save 1 Million Lives” campaign, the foundation wants to launch a cooperation project for undevelopment countries where there is a high incidence of kidney diseases, to increase the organ donations in this area and save the lives of people who suffer them,

DTI Foundation- Donation & Transplantation Institute, chaired by Dr. Martí Manyalich, brings together experts in the field from Spain, Europe and America to advise and support the implementation of projects in organ, tissue and cell donation and transplant, and creates a wide network for research. Through its education program TPM (Transplant Procurement Management), more than 14.000 healthcare professionals from 100 countries have been trained since 1991.
