Dr. Ivo Gut Elected Fellow of the European Academy of Cancer Sciences

Dr. Ivo Gut, Director of the National Center for Genomic Analysis (CNAG), based at the Barcelona Science Park, has been elected a Fellow of the European Academy of Cancer Sciences (EACS), one of Europe’s most prestigious scientific institutions dedicated to cancer research. This distinction recognizes his career achievements and his outstanding contributions to the field of genomics and cancer research.

The EACS is an independent organization composed of hundreds of leading oncologists and researchers who work to advance the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer, as well as to help shape scientific and health policies in Europe. Being elected a Fellow means becoming part of a select group of experts internationally recognized for their scientific impact.

“I feel truly honoured to be elected a member of the European Academy of Cancer Sciences. This recognition reflects not only my work but also the dedication and expertise of all the teams at CNAG. I hope to contribute to the Academy’s mission of advancing cancer research and improving patient care across Europe”, said the director of CNAG.

Throughout his career, Dr. Gut has specialized in genomics, bioinformatics, and advanced omics technologies, leading international genome sequencing projects related to cancer and contributing to the development of platforms and methodologies that have expanded the understanding of the genetic bases of the disease. Among his work, he has coordinated the sequencing for the Spanish contribution to the International Cancer Genome Consortium, as well as participating in several European Union–funded projects that promote precision medicine and translational research in oncology.
