Bonfires, picnics and other summer celebrations

As the summer days grow longer they bring with them a time of open-air festivals, get-togethers and parties. Let’s take a moment and remember what kind of sustainability criteria can be applied when groups get together:

  • PLATES, GLASSES, CUPS, CUTLERY and NAPKINS should not be disposable. If there are no other options, paper and cardboard are preferable, as they are easier to recycle.
  • DECORATIONS should be made of paper, cardboard or fabric.
  • For the MENU, choose seasonal local products and adjust the quantities to the number of guests so as not to waste food.
  • BEVERAGES are better in large-container formats than individual ones.
  • For any unavoidable WASTE that is generated, make sure it can be classified and separated by composition; paper or glass waste is preferable. It is also important to have visible and accessible sorting bins.
  • MUSIC should be at a controlled volume to respect the neighbours.

Let’s celebrate our local festivities and traditions to the fullest with the minimum environmental footprint and social awareness. And let’s not forget that bonfires and rockets can cause fires or hurt people. Remember to take good sense to the party.
