Advancell inaugurates a new laboratory at PCB

The biotech company Advancell will be inaugurating its new laboratory at the Barcelona Science Park on the 8th of May at 12h. The audience to the event will include representatives from other companies in the sector and from several other institutions. The new director general of the company, Kenneth Weissmahr, will also be officially presented, whom jointly with the company's chairman, Davide Sirtoli, and the director Alternative Testing Area, Myriam Fabre, will be explaining the projects the company is currently involved in.


The new laboratory is located on the first floor of the Cluster Building (01C51) and has a surface of 300 sq. meters. Beside conducting research work and producing reagents for the pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic and food industry, Advancell is also producing in vivo models to assess the efficacy, safety and action mechanism of new drugs.

The company is currently studying a treatment for psoriasis, which is under clinical phase, in collaboration with Isdín, and is also developing, together with Protherics, a British laboratory, a new orphan drug to treat leukaemia. In addition, it has recently presented a strategic plan the aim of which is to multiply by five its value in order to reach a 15.5 million Euros turnover, a goal that the company aims to achieve by expanding the sales of its innovative cell reagents and through the advancement of its therapeutic developments under clinical phase.
