A floral show 15 minutes from the PCB!

This year’s New Rose International Contest will be taking place in Barcelona during the first full week of May. The competition, which starts on 9 May, coincides with the first flowering of the roses and gives awards to the best new specimens created from new rose varieties.

The flower show is accompanied by activities related to all things roses: guided visits to the rose garden, culinary demonstrations with roses or make-up workshops for children. Talks on biodiversity about birds, insects, fruits and flowers are also scheduled.

Spring is a lovely time to visit the rose garden in Cervantes Park, whether on contest days or otherwise. The garden’s proximity to the Parc Científic de Barcelona is a good excuse to discover and admire the more than 2,000 different species and varieties there. The rose collection contains about 10,000 rose bushes that take you on a botanical journey to discover the roses of Asia, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
