James Watson visits the Barcelona Science Park Blog Post

James Watson, co-discover of the DNA structure and Nobel Prize in Medicine in 1962, visited the laboratory premises of the based at the Barcelona Science Park to get a closer look at the research activity conducted by the young researchers and to study possible ways of scientific collaboration. Due to his interest in cancer research, Dr Watson also visited the Metlab at the Institute for Research in Biomedicine (), also based at the Barcelona Science Park, and devoted to the study of the genes involved in metastasis under the leadership of Doctors Roger Gomis, Mónica Morales and Xavier García De Albeniz.

Inauguration of the IRB Barcelona/PCB Advanced Digital Microscopy Facility Blog Post

On Tuesday, April 28, the IRB Barcelona/PCB Advanced Digital Microscopy Facility (ADM) has been officially inaugurated. Julien Colombelli, manager of the ADM, has presented the new service at 12h in the Fèlix Serratosa Auditorium of the Barcelona Science Park. The presentation has been followed by guided tours of this new facility.

The Institute of Biomedical research, the largest research centre at the PCB Blog Post

The Parc Científic de Barcelona (PCB), the Universitat de Barcelona (UB) and the Generalitat de Catalunya have founded the IRB Foundation. The largest public research centre at the Park, the l’ (IRB) now has its own legal status through which to manage the future of the centre. The first meeting of the board of trustees appointed Joan J. Guinovart, researcher and senior professor with the Dept. of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of the UB, as director of the Institute. In this new phase, the investigator Joan Massagué will also join the managerial team of the centre.
