CataloniaBio & HealthTech and Boston MassMEDIC join forces

CataloniaBio & HealthTech –the association of companies in the biomedicine and health arena in Catalonia, based in the Barcelona Science Park– and the Massachusetts Medical Device Industry Council (MassMEDIC), the largest association of medical technology companies in the United States, have signed an agreement to foster innovation and collaborations in business and research among their members.

After formalising the agreement – which was signed at the European investment congress Bio€quity– CataloniaBioHT and MassMEDIC will begin working together on several actions. The Catalan association will do so through its Internationalisation Workgroup, which was launched recently.

Angel Alonso, vice-president of CataloniaBioHT and CEO of Vecmedical, explained that this agreement will “strengthen institutional ties and provide a good opportunity to bring the innovative companies of CataloniaBioHT to the world’s top biomedical ecosystem.”

For his part, MassMEDIC President Bryan Johnson says “We are thrilled to continue the important work of building bridges with our international counterparts across the globe. Our agreement with CataloniaBioHT is the beginning of a critical relationship for our shared ecosystems. Much like Massachusetts, the Catalonia region has a rich history of medical advancements and healthcare institutions that are a model for the rest of the world.”

CataloniaBioHT was created in 2017 through the merger of CataloniaBio and the HealthTech Cluster. The association currently has 150 member companies and participates of the Catalunya Clústers programme promoted by the Government of Catalonia through ACCIÓ.
