| The complex mechanical structure of the cell and its ability to
sense and to actively respond to external forces and deformations
regulate critical cellular functions including contraction, migration,
differentiation and gene expression.
The understanding of cell mechanical behavior has been greatly facilitated by
nanotechnology and novel biophysical and bioimaging techniques.
The European Meeting on Cell Mechanics is amultidisciplinary
forum to discuss ongoing research in this rapidly growing
scientific field. It is a biennial meeting whose first and highly
successful event was held in Paris in September 2005.
Topics include
- Cell rheology
- Nanobiomechanics
- Cell adhesion
- Cell contraction
- Cell motility
- Mechanotransduction
