The activity entitled What is the Parc Científic de Barcelona? What is research about? provided a brief overview of the PCB followed by the presentation of a research dissertation by a doctoral student. After this introduction, a visit around the facilities was organised in the form of game, inviting students to visit the laboratories and services in which the doctoral student had worked during his/her project.
In each of these facilities, students were requested to hand over a sample and had to leave with the corresponding result. For example, on entering the DNA Sequencing Unit, students had to provide a tube with a DNA sample and leave with the prepared sequence in order to give it to the scientist in the next laboratory.
The design of this activity made the visit to the PCB more dynamic and stimulated students interest, in addition to improving their understanding of the PCB. Thus, we invited students to participate in research and see first hand how researchers at the park work.
