Founded by the University of Barcelona in 1997, it was the first science park
in Spain and is an international point of reference today in the promotion of
innovation, with more than 2,000 professionals working there.
The Barcelona Science Park has as its goals:
- To potentiate quality research with the support of a wide range of technologies
- To revitalise the relation between university and business
- To promote the creation of new companies and institutions
- To further the science-society dialogue and encourage careers in science
At present the park is home to 3 research institutes, 75 companies,
an incubator for biotechnology companies and a wide range of research support technology. In addition, it organises more than
120 activities for the promotion of scientific culture and new careers in science,
in which close to 6,000 people participate each year.
