V Annual Conference of the Biomedical Research Technology Platforms
V Annual Conference of the Biomedical Research Technology Platforms Destacat The Annual Conference of the four Spanish Biomedical Research Technology Platforms will once again be held in Barcelona on 14 and 15 February 2012, focusing on Open Innovation. Jordi Quintana, Director of Business Development Scientist and head of the Drug Discovery Platform at Barcelona Science Park, will take part in this meeting.
A new way to stimulate the immune system and fight infection
A study carried out by Eric Vivier and Sophie Ugolini at the Marseille-Luminy Centre for Immunology –in which researchers from the National Centre for Genomic Analysis (CNAG), based at the Barcelona Science Park, have taking part– has just reveal a gene (the Ncr1) in mice which, when mutated, can stimulate the immune system to help fight against tumors and viral infections. Details of this work are published in the journal Science .
The European Federation of Biotechnology organizes the "Applied Synthetic Biology in Europe"
The European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB) —in collaboration with The Society of Chemical Industry (SCI), The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) from the UK, and the company Novozymes— organizes the Applied Synthetic Biology in Europe. The meeting –which will be held 4th to 5th February 2012 in Barcelona– will emphasise experimental approaches to use synthetic biology to solve industrial problems.
